Honouring Indigenous Worlds:
Visionary Learning Under the Fifth Sun
Fourth Spirit Matters Gathering
August 24, 25 and 26, 2012
Themes and Processes
This is a gathering, not a conference but a coming together of kindred spirits around the Fire of Honouring Indigenous Worlds, our own and those of others. There are no paid facilitators or stars, although the animators coming can command large fees elsewhere. We are all here because we want to envision and learn together, to share indigenous wisdoms and ways in a safe enough, respectful enough, place. Our themes and our processes echo that intention. This will be a coming together in participatory community, soulful, artful and from the heart.
Processes; (a) Councils of Animators introduce and highlight our history and visionary projects together
(b) Sharing Circles will be facilitated by those with deep experience of working collaboratively in community and with a diversity of peoples.
(c) Conversation Cafes are where personal projects can be developed with the input of diverse communities of peoples, all gathering in circulating small groups.
(d) Spirit will be more centralized than before. Quiet altar space will be available and central. Pieces for the altar are encouraged. Ritual, invocation and ceremony will be integrated into every community assembly.
(e) Art, performance and creative initiatives are woven into every aspect. Participants and animators can bring resource materials for the sharing circles, cafes or resources centre.
(f) Respect, generosity and abundance are woven through the gathering, i.e. Trickster and the More-than-humans will set the culture and guide all participants. There will be a giveaway table, shared resource centre, loads of vegitarian food, extraordinary performances by Children’s Peace Theatre and a free Saturday night concert at the Transac Club.
